Elekta expands its STRATEGIQ Services cancer care programme

Given the intricacies surrounding the Health Information Technology for Economic and Clinical Health (HITECH) Act, Elekta expands its STRATEGIQ Services programme to help cancer care centres take advantage of the financial incentives available from the federal government.
The incentives will be issued to current users and new adopters of certified EMR systems who are able to demonstrate meaningful use.
Part of the 2009 American Recovery and Reinvestment Act, the HITECH Act offers incentives to physicians and hospitals who implement electronic medical records (EMR) and starting in 2015, penalties for those who do not.
In 2005 Elekta created STRATEGIQ Services, a consultative services programme that helps cancer centres restructure their administrative and clinical processes, identifying new processes that enable customers to perform at their best. Given the government incentives for the HITECH Act, we have expanded our services to help better prepare our customers. Elekta understands the critical needs for our customers to qualify for the incentive payments and avoid costly Medicare penalties.
'Elekta is committed to providing solutions that not only help clinicians deliver superior patient care but add clinical and operational value to their practice,' said Jay Hoey President and Chief Executive Officer of Elekta North America. 'With STRATEGIQ Services, we can assess where your centre is today, determine what changes need to happen and tailor a plan that allows your facility to demonstrate meaningful use.'
