Harvard Apparatus has introduced Hugo Sachs Elektronik's new Steiert Tissue Bath System that allows simultaneous measurement of contraction force and intracellular action potentials in cardiac tissue. |
|
|
This compact perfusion bath was developed to study the impact of pharmacological agents on papillary muscle and purkinjie fibres.
The arrangement of the perfusion chamber allows simultaneous measurement of contraction force and intracellular action potentials in cardiac tissue.
The robust Perspex construction of the bath is impervious to salt solutions and provides a solid platform for physiological measurements.
A hard-point for an HSE F-Series isometric force transducer is milled directly into the frame of the bath and is rigidly connected to the integral micro-positioning device. This configuration takes advantage of the ultra-high +/- 0.5mg resolution of the F-Series transducer.
A specially designed DC Temperature Controller precisely regulates tissue and perfusate temperature. In this way, the temperature circuit is completely de-coupled from the perfusion circuit, eliminating electrical interference from action potential measurement.
The Steiert Bath includes a perfusate pump, temperature controller, force transducer, stimulation and recording electrodes for a complete tissue physiology workstation.
