New partnership implements community-based Electronic Health Records infrastructure

Greenway Medical Technologies : 03 October, 2007  (New Product)
Greenway Medical Technologies is to partner with Mercy Health Partners of Southwestern Ohio, one of the premier health networks in the USA.
The partnership includes the creation of an affordable application service provider (ASP)-hosted electronic health record (EHR) solution for Mercy's affiliated physicians and physicians' practices.

Greenway, a leading provider of ambulatory health information technology, advances its strategic focus in the hospital-led community EHR market by providing Mercy Health Partners with its flagship EHR solution, PrimeSuite, via an ASP model. Through the deployment of an ASP infrastructure, Mercy Health Partners will host and offer PrimeSuite to its affiliated physician practices in the Southwest Ohio network.

By utilising an ASP model, Greenway and Mercy Health Partners are able to establish an interoperable EHR solution that allows medical facilities within the Mercy Family to electronically exchange critical patient information in a timely manner, which enhances and expedites the caregivers' ability to administer safe, accurate and proper medical care. Practices utilising the Mercy managed solution will eventually be able to electronically share information amongst the different participants in a patient's care continuum, including all involved physicians, hospitals, lab systems and pharmacies. Greenway will play a significant role in the creation of Mercy Health Partners' Integrated Health Exchange (IHE).

The ASP model also assists in providing Mercy Health Partners' affiliated practices with a low cost, affordable payment structure for one of the industry's leading integrated EHR solutions, PrimeSuite. The affiliated practices can access PrimeSuite from the host and avoid purchasing the entire solution individually.

Additionally, Mercy Health Partners plans to take advantage of the recently modified Stark regulation that will assist with funding the Greenway integrated solution for its members. Together, the ASP platform and Mercy's financial participation will address the most significant barrier to EHR adoption, affordability, and can help drive widespread EHR adoption amongst the community.

'We are thrilled to be working with such a reputable health system as Mercy Health Partners and to be a key partner as they create their community EHR platform,' said Tommy Green, chairman and CEO of Greenway. 'With this partnership, we take a great step from the ambulatory market into the community EHR market, where we can apply our award-winning fully-integrated HER technology to a larger setting and help streamline the clinical, financial and administrative processes within a physician network.'

'Our goal is to provide our affiliated physicians with an affordable and easy way to utilise HER technology, managed within the trusted Mercy Health Partners' network with proven interfaces seamlessly integrated with the RHIO in our area, HealthBridge. The Greenway solution allows us to do just that,' said Dr Yousuf Ahmad, senior vice president and CIO of Mercy Health Partners. 'We have been impressed with PrimeSuite's functionality, its use of a leading technological platform and the management team's support for our strategic plans. We believe this partnership will further allow Mercy Health Partners to better serve its affiliated physicians and patients.'
