Philips unveils new preclinical imaging solutions for Europe

Philips Medical Systems : 12 October, 2007  (New Product)
Philips Electronics is introducing its complete preclinical product portfolio for the first time in Europe at the annual congress of the European
Association of Nuclear Medicine (EANM), Copenhagen, Denmark from October 13 to 17, 2007.
The Philips tools enable researchers to gain new insights in biology, disease processes and molecular medicine. Philips’ solutions make in vivo preclinical imaging more reliable, reducing the cost of research and development for novel diagnostics and therapeutics.

The tools include Philips’ new Imalytics Preclinical Workspace, the Mosaic HP preclinical PET system and the NanoSPECT/CT.

A flexible and open system, Philips’ new Imalytics Preclinical Workspace enables researchers to extract statistically sound information out of images more accurately so that they can interpret their research data with confidence and improve the accuracy of their research results. The Imalytics Workspace offers a comprehensive solution for imaging analytics, which includes complete image processing, quantification, kinetic modelling and visualisation tools dedicated to preclinical imaging.

The Imalytics Preclinical Workspace also features project-oriented and hypothesis-driven workflow that supports four modalities: PET, CT, SPECT and MRI, and is based on an expandable platform to accommodate current and future preclinical imaging needs. The Workspace can be used in conjunction with Philips’ Mosaic HP and NanoSPECT/CT products for centralised preclinical processing.

The Philips Mosaic HP, equipped with high performance LYSO detector technology is a dedicated preclinical PET system that delivers flexibility and efficiency for a wide range of preclinical research applications in oncology, cardiology and neurology. Mosaic HP’s extra-large imaging bore and long axial field of view allows imaging of a variety of research subjects and bio-distribution studies on a whole subject in a single scan.

Philips is also launching an upgrade for the Mosaic HP that will add several new functionalities and enhancements.

These include a cardiac gating application in list mode, CT attenuation correction, an advanced subject handling system compatible with the NanoSPECT/CT system with integrated subject temperature control and connectivity to the new Imalytics Workspace.

Completing Philips’ flexible and scaleable tri-modality preclinical product offering is Bioscan’s NanoSPECT/CT system. NanoSPECT/CT helps accelerate the discovery of new targeted biomarkers and the development and validation of new molecular diagnostic and therapeutic applications. The system enables fast, dynamic SPECT acquisitions with high temporal resolution and dual-isotope imaging with ultra-high system sensitivity and sub-half millimetre resolution with its patented multiplexed multi-pinhole imaging technology and broadband detectors.
