Agfa is selected to supply Hospital Information System to Germany's Jade-Weser hospital group

Agfa HealthCare Benelux : 03 December, 2007  (New Product)
Agfa HealthCare has signed an agreement with the Hospitalgesellschaft Jade-Weser for the introduction of its Orbis Hospital Information System (HIS) throughout the entire hospital group.
Agfa HealthCare’s HIS has already been in operation at the group’s St. Johannes Hospital, in Varel, since 1999. In a first stage of the project, the existing systems at the group’s St Willehad Hospital, in Wilhelmshaven, and the St Bernhard Hospital, in Brake, will be replaced by Orbis.

This first phase is planned to be completed by April 2008. The new, unified IT solution will then gradually be expanded to the other hospitals with the aim to introduce a fully functional Electronic Patient Record (EPR).

By opting for the Orbis system, the Jade-Weser hospital group - formed at the beginning of 2005 - is seeking to further integrate its healthcare facilities, counting a total of 450 beds and a 1,200-strong workforce.

Agfa HealthCare's Orbis will support the group's ambitions and help enable a more flexible, multi-site deployment of personnel, the standardisation of both medical and administrative processes, the improvement of the group's controlling capabilities and the increased efficiency of its IT operations.

Heinz Hoffstedde, managing director of the Jade-Weser GmbH hospital group explains: 'Our decision to roll out Orbis across the group is based on our long-established and successful collaboration with Agfa HealthCare in Varel. The wide range of Orbis functions on offer allows us to move forward in our ambition to develop a fully digital hospital environment, driven by an integrated Electronic Patient Record solution.'

Reiner Niehaus, sales director Agfa HealthCare Germany, stated: 'Small and midsize clinic operators, such as the Jade-Weser hospital group, have recognised the strategic importance of Orbis as a means of supporting the competitiveness of their overall operations. The increased collaboration with the Jade-Weser hospital group is a further endorsement of our partnership-oriented approach.'
