Agfa unveils secure managed integration hub to link to off-site reporting services

Agfa HealthCare UK : 05 September, 2008  (New Product)
Agfa Healthcare has unveiled the Agfa Technology Enabled Services Platform (ATESP), which is a secure managed integration hub connecting healthcare providers in both the public and private sectors to off-site reporting services.
Totally free to the provider and supplier to connect and maintain, the service brings IT enabled suppliers into the realm of the parent organisation - seamlessly, securely and quickly.

Using secure network connectivity via VPN or N3, the platform features high bandwidth connectivity and HL7 integration, tracking and routing. DICOM image management is incorporated so the institution can transmit clinical images from its own networks to an outside target.

Agfa HealthCare has been working closely with 4 Ways Healthcare, a leading teleradiology supplier in the UK, who sees many advantages in the new platform.

According to 4 Ways chief executive officer, Dr Sanjiv Agarwal, 'It gives any healthcare provider connected to the Agfa service absolute freedom to talk to any IT enabled supplier without any cost penalty. We are very pleased as we will be able to offer an instant service on demand to fill in for absent reporters or to be there during times of overload.'

Operations director Dr Arun Kumar added, “4 Ways, which has more than 110 UK based reporters on their list, are capable of reporting on almost every modality, in cases of stroke within 15 minutes of receiving the CT images, in an environment that provides the highest level of security. We are accredited at the highest ISO level for information management and network security as we realise how critical this is to healthcare providers. We are pleased that Agfa HealthCare takes this viewpoint as well.'

From Agfa's standpoint, concept leader Gareth Dellenty commented, 'We are offering this service to users of off-site services free of charge, the cost coming from suppliers who will pay for the service on a transactional basis. We are thrilled to partner with 4 Ways as their reputation in teleradiology is outstanding and because they are very well placed to compete in this new barrier-free environment.”
