Aperio extends global slide scanner installed base

Aperio Technologies : 25 May, 2007  (New Product)
More than 250 Aperio scanning systems are now installed in 23 countries worldwide.
The installed systems reported in the 2006 US News and World Report, Best Hospitals include more than half of the top 13 pharmaceutical companies and more than two thirds of the top 14 rated US hospitals.

Among some of the hospitals and health systems using Aperio are Duke University Medical Center, Massachusetts General Hospital, Mayo Clinic, and Stanford Hospitals and Clinics.

A partial list of pharmaceutical customers includes Novartis, GlaxoSmithKline, Eli Lilly, Sanofi-Aventis and Amgen.

Aperio is the gold standard in digital pathology solutions, serving markets that include pre-clinical research, basic research and education.

Aperio also offers a full product solution for clinical organizations with applications in telepathology, quality assurance, archival and retrieval (PACS) and automated image analysis.

Aperio's solutions enable users to achieve greater efficiency and cost savings by improving workflow processes and expanding data access, integration and reporting capabilities.

Aperio's award winning and patented linear array-based ScanScope slide scanning systems, which include image analysis algorithms for quantitative analysis, deliver unprecedented performance to create seamless, true colour whole slide images at giga-pixel resolution from an entire glass slide in a matter of minutes.

Aperio's slide scanning systems are offered with Spectrum information management software to enable the viewing, analysis and management of digital slides and other images in a secure multi-user, multi-site environment.

Dirk Soenksen, CEO of Aperio commented, 'We're proud of being the company that has, and continues to, set the high water mark in the emerging digital pathology market'.

'Our team is committed to developing digital pathology solutions that meet the evolving needs of pathologists and laboratories around the world'.

'Aperio was the first to offer an ultra-fast slide scanning system with oil-immersion optics to provide haematopathologists and microbiologists with the ability to digitise specimens at the highest resolutions'.

'We also continue to forge relationships with respected international partners to help customers world-wide realise the productivity benefits of going digital, and are seeing overwhelming response to our technology in global markets'.
