Arrow Medical's develpment and production skills help DVT foot cushion to come to market

Arrow Medical has provided product development, production engineering services, assembly and distribution support for the new Physio-Master, a self-inflating precision foot cushion that can reduce the risks of Deep Vein Thrombosis (DVT).
The Physio-Master from Medical Devices Technology International (MTDI) has been designed to help patients to replicate the action of walking, to benefit blood circulation and also aids rehabilitation of lower limb circulatory problems, such as lymphoedema and swollen ankles. The device can also help patients with balance problems by supporting improvements in pro-prioception, which, while assisting the elderly and other patients recovering after injury, also helps athletes improve reaction times.

Physio-Master, invented by Jill Parker (seen here with the Physio–Master) from the Princess Royal Hospital, Telford, was brought to market with the assistance of MidTECH, part of the national network of NHS Innovation Hubs and the Shrewsbury and Telford Hospital NHS Trust. Physio-Master is marketed worldwide by Medical Devices Technology International.

Arrow Medical uses a number of techniques to produce the Physio-Master to MDTI's specifications, including, multi-layer fabric assembly, sewing and heat sealing and high precision radio frequency welding.

The novel multi-layer fabric construction with a cellular polymer core created for Physio-Master allows it to be quickly deflated, making it easy to store and pack, while manual inflation is avoided so that patients with respiratory problems can use the device freely and hygienically when they choose.

Physio-Master can be purchased from Paterson Medical and other medical distributors from January 2008.
