Baxa introduced new reference tool for sterile compounding compliance

Baxa announces the availability of a comprehensive new reference tool for understanding the compliance requirements for sterile compounding and USP < 797 > compliance. |

The interactive reference map was developed by ClinicalIQ, CriticalPoint and the National Association of Boards of Pharmacy. The tool offers state-specific guidelines on professional licensing and training requirements, State Board of Pharmacy harmonisation with USP < 797 > guidelines and sterile compounding laws.
According to Peter Cantor, CriticalPoint development lead, 'This project was developed as a response to the need among pharmacy managers and other healthcare providers to understand the legal and professional requirements for sterile compounding and licensure. As a provider of continuing education and USP < 797 > compliance training for pharmacies, we wanted to take this opportunity to give something back to the compounding community. The research provides an important tool for our customers in understanding the laws and regulations that govern their work.' The complimentary reference tool is available online and is maintained by Cantor and other CriticalPoint staff members.
Baxa markets the CriticalPoint compliance training modules as part of its Productivity and Compliance Tools (PACT) product line, which includes the Skills Training, Academics and Resources (STAR) Center classroom-based training for USP < 797 > compliance and aseptic compounding. The CriticalPoint program offers an interactive, Web-based training solution for sterile compounding education and regulatory compliance. The online crosswalk tool complements the CriticalPoint training by providing up-to-date information on the training requirements in each state for professional licensure, USP < 797> and state laws and regulations.
Phil Wettestad, Baxa pharmacy operations specialist noted, 'This crosswalk tool is a valuable resource for pharmacy managers and IV supervisors for determining their training needs and planning for regulatory compliance.' Once a facility's training needs are established, the CriticalPoint - Baxa partnership provides both off-the-shelf and experiential training programmes to meet them.'
