Brigham and Women’s Hospital smart sources clinical trial enrolment

Care Management International : 19 November, 2007  (New Product)
Care Management International is to administer the enrolment phase of a Member Outreach clinical trial at Brigham and Women’s Hospital (BWH) in Boston, USA.
Funded by the National Institutes of Health, the trial will assess whether education from clinical coaches improves adherence to osteoporosis medication in elderly members who are covered by the Pharmaceutical Assistance Contract for the Elderly (PACE) programme.

PACE is a state run prescription programme for Pennsylvania residents with limited incomes, who are 65 years of age and older enrolled in a prescription assistance programme.

Care Management International’s specific charter is to provide BWH with enrolment services and operational metrics on call summary statistics while gathering demographic data typically not available in the enrolment phase of these projects.

According to Daniel H Solomon, MD, MPH, chief, Section of Clinical Sciences, Division of Rheumatology, Division of Pharmacoepidemiology at BWH, “Care Management International was chosen because of its ability to deliver a sophisticated and structured member outreach programme while generating a higher calibre of operational data. With Care Management as a valued partner, BWH will be able to reach more participants more quickly and therefore gather more data to help evaluate the effectiveness of this delivery model.”

Large national and regional health care organizations have turned to Care Management International for smart sourcing.

“Our operational expertise and proven strengths in clinical programme management uniquely match the outreach needs for this programme. Our approach combines best-in-class human talent with best-in-breed technology to deliver smart sourcing for a variety of different business sectors within healthcare organizations,” said Minalkumar Patel, MD, MPH, chief executive officer of Care Management International. “Smart sourcing in healthcare is an emerging approach for the delivery of sophisticated, clinically relevant, global support services. Smart sourcing utilises highly trained clinical talent as well as the latest technology to help clients improve outcomes, innovate in essential clinical areas, and improve the quality of care experienced by patients.”
