Carestream Health introduces new compact digital radiography system

Carestream Health : 01 November, 2007  (New Product)
A compact digital radiography system has been unveiled by Carestream Health that delivers a small footprint with the functionality and convenience required by a broad range of healthcare facilities.
The new Kodak Directview DR 3500 system is available worldwide and is ideal for use in hospitals, outpatient imaging centres and clinics that serve orthopaedic specialists and other physicians.

The DR 3500 system provides even more productivity enhancing features to the DR 3000 platform, which it replaces. These productivity gains can translate to a more efficient workflow that can help equip facilities to handle larger patient volumes without adding staff.

New capabilities include:

Optional pre-programmed auto-positioning allows technologists to position the equipment by pressing a single button

Auto-collimator enhancements including field size and filter are pre-programmed for each projection (these settings can be modified by the key operator if desired).

Optional remote control adjusts collimator settings and can activate pre-programmed positions

Patient positioning enhancements include a support bar for lateral chest exams and patient handles on the Bucky; and

A new control panel displays additional information, and is brighter and easier to read.

Like its predecessor, the compact DR 3500 system is fully motorised with a floor-mounted stand that does not require wall mounts or ceiling suspension provisions. This creates greater placement flexibility and reduces the cost of installation. This single detector system can also be configured with a newly designed moveable table as an option.

In addition to capturing upright and table exams, the Bucky’s tilting feature facilitates angled projections. Automatic positioning for upright and table projections and the constant alignment of the X-ray tube and detector can save time for radiographic technologists and patients.

The system can also be configured with a multi-functional, height-adjustable exam table with a four-way floating top that is designed for flexible patient positioning. The pedestal design can be freely positioned at any angle to the detector and supports 500 lbs (227kg).

Preview images are available in less than six seconds. The detector also features a large 17 x 17 inch image area (43 x 43cm) that eliminates the need for rotation. The system’s large cesium iodide detector matrix (3001 x 3001) with 143 micron pixels, combined with Carestream Health’s advanced image processing software, produces sharp, detailed images of superb quality.

Carestream Health offers one of the broadest product lines of DR systems in the market to provide hospitals, outpatient imaging centres, orthopaedic practices and other healthcare providers with digital image capture for X-ray imaging studies. In addition to the DR 3500, the company’s portfolio includes the Kodak Directview DR 9500 and DR 7500 platforms.

The DR 9500 is a new digital radiography system that allows technologists to capture images of the left and right side of the body without moving the patient. The system is ideal for a wide variety of general radiography procedures, and offers enhanced speed to the operator and comfort to patients with limited mobility.

The DR 7500 provides the ultimate in flexibility - with single- and dual-detector options that enable medical facilities of any size to configure a DR solution that meets their individual space, application, workflow and budget requirements.
