Cerner’s ProVision Workstation software prepares for worldwide launch

Cerner : 08 October, 2007  (New Product)
Cerner’s ProVision Workstation software solution has received US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) 510(k) pre-market clearance and a CE Mark Certificate from Cerner’s notified body, BSI Management Systems.
Cerner will immediately make this solution available to clients worldwide.

“With the FDA 510(k) clearance and CE Mark for the Cerner ProVision Workstation, we can now offer our clients a comprehensive suite of solutions designed to streamline workflow in radiology departments,” said Trace Devanny, Cerner president. “The Workstation complements our unified RIS/PACS offering, creating a truly cohesive suite of radiology solutions operating on the power of the integrated Cerner Millennium architecture.”

The ProVision Workstation, along with Cerner’s unified Radiology information system (RIS) and picture archiving and communication system (PACS) solutions, saves time for radiologists by reducing the number of steps they must go through to view relevant images.

“Our radiologists view more than 31,000 images every day, so the ability to access the correct images quickly is a necessity,” said Helen Thompson, chief information officer of Heartland Health, which is working with Cerner as a beta testing partner. “The ProVision Workstation radiology viewer shows great promise for improving turnaround time for our radiologists.”

Cerner’s radiology solutions, including RadNet and ProVision PACS, create an uninterrupted link between patient images and the electronic Medical record (EMR) ProVision PACS offers the complete range of image management products, including image acquisition, storage, display and Web distribution services.

Cerner’s paperless and filmless PACS solutions optimise workflow and eliminate waste in the radiology department. The ProVision Workstation further streamlines radiology workflow through its one-click access of the Cerner Multimedia Foundation, a single repository for all types of images across multiple care venues.

The ProVision PACS Workstation is part of Cerner’s suite of radiology solutions including Integrated Digital Dictation and ProVision Web for seamless integration with the electronic medical record.
