CLCH becomes largestt community healthcare NHS trust in London
|

Central London Community Healthcare (CLCH) becomes London’s first and largest community healthcare NHS trust. |
|
The move signals a new type of community healthcare provider emerging across the UK.
The new status is in recognition of the healthcare service CLCH already offering 600,000 local people and is a stepping stone to the organisation achieving NHS community foundation trust status.
Achieving NHS trust status will bring benefits to residents across London as they will receive community based healthcare delivered locally or at home by a specialist organisation. The new status gives patients an alternative to hospital based treatment for a wide range of conditions.
With the largest market share in London, CLCH combines unrivalled local community knowledge with an ability to offer real value for money. As GP commissioning goes live, GPs across London will be able to choose CLCH for their patients’ treatment.
Formed 12 months ago from an alliance of the community service provider arms of three London PCTs (Hammersmith and Fulham, Kensington and Chelsea, and Westminster) CLCH has already established itself within the market and has a strong track record and reputation.
“At CLCH our mission is to provide the best healthcare for people in their homes and in the community. To support this, we have more than 1700 healthcare professionals delivering high-quality, patient-centred care to local people; strengthened by our specialised focus and our local knowledge. We also work together with local GPs and hospitals to give people the care they need, when they need it and where they want it,” said Claire Holloway, Managing Director.
Mike O’Donovan, Chair, CLCH NHS Trust, said: “I’m proud that today CLCH has been awarded NHS trust status in its own right, the first step on our journey of becoming a community foundation trust. This is a tribute to our reputation for excellence and our staff’s expertise. As Central London Community Healthcare NHS Trust we will continue to deliver innovative community–based treatment to patients that reflect their needs and also to work collaboratively with partners in the NHS and beyond.”
Ruth Carnall, Chief Executive, NHS London said: “I am pleased to welcome CLCH to the NHS in London as an NHS trust in their own right. The NHS needs to work closely with local authorities and community services to give Londoners more consistent and coordinated care. By coming together to transform its community services, CLCH will combine the expertise of its staff to provide better quality care for people, more of the time, in central London.”
Paul Wilson, Chair, Westminster LINk said: “As the network that represents the views of service users the LINk welcomes this announcement that will enable CLCH to develop services that respond better to the needs of the local population and raise the quality of patient care.” |
