Edinburgh Cancer Centre orders UK's first flat panel mobile C-Arm fluoroscopy system

Xograph Healthcare : 07 June, 2007  (New Product)
Xograph Healthcare is to supply the first fully digital, flat panel mobile C-Arm isystem into the UK and Ireland.
The award winning system Ziehm Vision FD flat panel mobile C-arm fluoroscopy system has been ordered by the Edinburgh Cancer Centre at Western General Hospital in Edinburgh.

In 2006, Ziehm Imaging was presented with the Frost and Sullivan Product Award for its outstanding technological innovation within the mobile C-arm market.

The integrated 20x20cm a-SI dynamic flat panel detector is insensitive to magnetic fields.

This makes it possible to work closer to sites where other magnetic fields are present, such as Radiotherapy units; unlike an image intensifier, the image produced by the flat detector is undistorted.

The Ziehm Vision FD offers surgeons an unmatched dynamic range, perfect for displaying soft tissue and skeleton detail in the same image.

This is particularly useful in interventional radiography, vascular, neuro, trauma and specialised orthopaedic surgery.

Neil Staff, technical director of Xograph Healthcare states, 'Flat panel fluoroscopy is a growing equipment trend across Europe when replacing fluoroscopy systems'.

'The traditional image intensifier technology is gradually being replaced'.

'The Ziehm Vision FD is a unique and highly innovative system in its field'.

'We are delighted to be providing the first UK unit to the Edinburgh Cancer Centre'.

The compact design and small footprint of the system, the compact image receptor and larger 'C' opening that this allows, provides the Vision FD with outstanding mobility.

It can be more readily manoeuvred into position in the crowded operating or imaging room.

The combination of undistorted digital images in advanced applications such as neurosurgery and the use of navigation systems or Computer Aided Surgery (CAS) open new horizons and possibilities with higher accuracy and image quality.

Versions of the Vision FD incorporating the flat panel dynamic detector, a fully integrated surgical navigation system and 3D imaging capability were given the first showing at this year's European Congress of Radiology in March 2007.
