EQ2 signs clinical equipment management system deal with Wales largest health trust

EQ2 : 09 November, 2012  (Application Story)
James Smith, president of EQ2, announced today that his Vermont-based medical equipment information systems software company has signed an exclusive agreement to provide Wales' Betsi Cadwaladr University Health Board (BCUHB) with a clinical equipment management system for three of the health trust's largest hospitals.

"Our software will enable these hospitals to utilise the latest clinical equipment management technology while also helping them more effectively meet NHSLA risk management standards," said Smith.

Smith added that once the three hospitals named in the contract - Ysbyty Gwynedd, Bangor; Glan Clwyd Hospital, Bodelwyddan; and Maelor Hospital, Wrexham - successfully meet NHSLA guidelines through the use of HEMS, there are fifteen additional Trust hospitals in line to potentially purchase EQ2's HEMS hospital equipment management software as part of the NHS Framework Agreement. BCUHB is the third UK trust EQ2 has signed with through its London-based partner BCAS Biomedical Services.

EQ2's product line, called the HEMS Enterprise Suite, enables health care organizations such as hospitals and health clinics to manage their capital equipment, ranging from clinical instruments involved directly with patient care to facility equipment and systems such as HVAC, gas and electrical systems, beds and elevators.

Two prominent government officials in the US welcomed the agreement and congratulated the Welsh health organization for making the right choice.

"I am thrilled that Betsi Cadwaladr University Health Board selected EQ2," said Vermont Governor Peter Shumlin. "Vermont is a leader in health care reform and keeping costs contained is an extremely important part of making that transition. EQ2's products can help their customers achieve that."

Vermont's US Senator Patrick Leahy echoed Shumlin's sentiments. "It is a tribute to the quality of EQ2's work and workforce that the National Health System of Wales has recognized the unique value EQ2, in partnership with BCAS Biomedical Services, can provide a healthcare system's critical clinical operations," commented Leahy. "Effective equipment management means better care and lower costs."
