Florida Blood Services selects Pilgrim’s SmartTrain system to manage training records

Florida Blood Services (FBS) has implemented Pilgrim’s SmartTrain system to automate its employee training records and certifications and ensure it upholds industry compliance standards for electronic records management. |
|
Effective management of any documentation is a critical issue within the Blood industry, and the FDA requires blood centres to manage all aspects of blood collection and distribution, including the management of training, training records and certifications.
Previously, Florida Blood Services managed SOPs manually, which at times impeded cycle times for document review and approval, and the records for training on the SOPs were not readily visible to management. With SmartTrain, FBS employees and trainers will now be able to sign-off electronically on employee training.
“We were seeking a training solution to tie into Pilgrim’s document management solution, SmartDoc, for document-based training tracking,” said Kathy Schulz, Florida Blood Services’ QA manager. “SmartTrain now provides us the ability to run GAP-Analysis reports to quickly identify what training requirements employees are missing. The SmartTrain application effectively supports Florida Blood Services’ continuous improvement efforts and regulatory compliance.”
Past employee training and certification history is now visible to ensure that employees are well-matched and qualified for the job they are assigned. Anticipated training is easily scheduled to assure everyone is brought up to date on the organization's SOPs. FBS' management team gains in-depth visibility and are confident their employees will perform within FDA regulations.
'We are pleased that Florida Blood Services has successfully implemented SmartTrain,' said Nikki Willett, Pilgrim’s vice president of marketing and regulatory affairs. 'This solution supports the blood industry’s strict regulations by ensuring employees are updated on the latest SOPs, and training strategies are built-in to engage the right mix of personnel, develop employees' skills and increase worker effectiveness. SmartTrain will manage quality and compliance across Florida Blood’s entire operation.'
