Greenway broadens sales by entering the Federally Qualified Health Centre market sector

Greenway Medical Technologies : 19 February, 2008  (New Product)
Greenway Medical Technologies has completed a strategic sale of the company’s PrimeSuite EHR solution to PrimaryPlus of Lewis County, Kentucky, USA, in the Federally Qualified Health Center (FQHC) marketplace.
The deal, with PrimaryPlus follows a record breaking sales quarter and highlights Greenway's continued expansion of services and solutions offered to the ambulatory and community-based healthcare markets.

The contract signed with PrimaryPlus opens the door for Greenway to begin offering its flagship EHR solution, PrimeSuite, to other FQHCs across the country. FQHCs receive designation from the Bureau of Primary Health Care (BPHC) and the US Department of Health and Human Services Center for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS).

FQHC designation enables medical organizations like PrimaryPlus to receive grant funding and offer services to patients with limited or no healthcare coverage. Programs include sliding fee scales for the uninsured that reduce medical costs by up to 75 percent, as well as a pharmacy programme that helps to discount rising pharmaceutical costs. FQHCs are also given privileged access to expensive children's vaccinations guaranteeing that even uninsured children can receive the proper medical attention.

Another benefit of FQHC funding is that medical organizations like PrimaryPlus can purchase state-of-the-art health technology such as PrimeSuite, which helps the organization streamline its clinical, financial and administrative processes to offer the most effective care possible. To receive FQHC funding, the medical facility must be serving patients in what is considered to be a predominantly uninsured or medically underserved area. The FQHC must operate under a consumer board of director's governance structure and provide comprehensive primary health, oral and mental health/substance abuse services to persons in all stages of their lifecycle.

PrimaryPlus is a 27-provider network with four main offices and 12 clinics serving patients in northeastern Kentucky and southern Ohio. The organization has 90 employees including physicians, nurses, billing staff and administrators, all of whom will be using PrimeSuite.

'I was impressed with the workflow and technical robustness of PrimeSuite and Greenway's integrated physician infrastructure solution,' said Jerry Ugrin, chief executive officer of PrimaryPlus. 'We believe the solution will alleviate problems we have with coding and accounts receivable while decreasing errors and streamlining our workflow.'

'We look forward to pursuing additional growth and opportunities available within the Federally Qualified Health Center marketplace,' said Justin Barnes, vice president of marketing and government affairs at Greenway. 'We are excited to be providing one of the nation's premier FQHCs, PrimaryPlus, with our leading 2007 CCHIT Certified EHR and integrated physician infrastructure solution.'
