Hands-free commode released for healthcare use

Vernacare : 03 September, 2015  (New Product)
Commode chair available from Vernacare features foot sensor operation to reduce hand contact and minimise cross infection
Hands-free commode released for healthcare use

Vernacare has made further advances in hygienic human waste management with the launch of its new Vortex+ disposal unit, which will be showcased at Healthcare Estates 2015 (20-21 October) on stand B30.

The infection prevention products manufacturer will also display its recently launched commode chair that combines durability with an easy-clean design to help reduce healthcare associated infections. Its strong corrosion-resistant frame and moulded parts are easily dismantled for steam cleaning and thermal disinfection.

The Vortex+ is entirely hands-free because it is opened and closed via a foot sensor. This reduces the risk of cross-infection when disposing of fibre-moulded bedpans, urinals and other products containing human waste.

A new ‘auto-start’ function begins the disposal cycle when the lid closes, preventing multiple waste containers ‘stacking up’ in the machine and the risk of overloading.

The Vortex+ features the original closed-drum of the existing Vortex model, which breaks waste products down into a fine slurry.

The new model also retains other original Vortex features, including an integrated automatic anti-bacterial deodoriser, together with a self-diagnosing display panel and manual emptying override for easier maintenance.

The Vortex+ is highly energy efficient because it operates using a cold water process and its powerful 1kW three-phase motor enables a rapid two minute cycle-time for up to four pulp waste containers. It is soundproofed for night time use.

Vernacare manufactures the Vortex+ in the UK to ISO EN 9001:2008 standards.

The company has a national team of experienced engineers, providing rapid-response maintenance and servicing across the UK.
