Hitachi's Echelon 1.5t MRI system offers reliability benefits

Hitachi Medical Systems America : 01 August, 2007  (New Product)
A cornerstone of Hitachi's UltraPlus Customer Assurance programme has been the company's 99 percent uptime guarantee for its MRI systems.
Jason Miller, MR product manager for Hitachi Medical Systems America said: 'While Echelon 1.5T incorporates many leading edge features including a high performance gradient system, new RF coils, and new RF and computer architecture, our users are finding it to be just as reliable as the open MR equipment we have marketed since 1989.'

Hitachi's uptime guarantee feature differs from similar offerings in the marketplace through a policy of a quarterly calculation on a working hours basis, and its award of free service months if the 99 percent uptime level is not met during the quarter.

Anish Berry, president of Diagnostic Imaging Group of Bethpage, New York, USA, manages facilities in New York, New Jersey and Florida equipped with nineteen Hitachi open MR systems and a new Echelon 1.5T.

Berry stated, “Hitachi continued its tradition of equipment reliability with this Echelon we have had virtually no downtime or unscheduled service visits since installation last November”.

He went on to say that “as a busy outpatient imaging services provider, we really cannot put up with equipment reliability issues Hitachi has really taken care of us.”
