IASIS Healthcare selects Thomson Healthcare to manage new medical staff development project

Thomson Healthcare : 14 March, 2008  (Company News)
Thomson Healthcare has been selected by IASIS Healthcare, an owner and operator of medium-sized acute care hospitals in high-growth urban and suburban markets, to complete medical staff development planning for eight of its 16 acute care hospitals.
Like other health systems in the USA, IASIS faces tough competition in recruiting doctors from a limited field of candidates. Thomson Healthcare, using its Market Expert market analysis tool, is helping IASIS by characterising eight markets to identify the current supply and project the future demand for primary and specialty care physicians.

Market Expert will help IASIS by pinpointing the number of visits made to various specialists in each market. Thomson Healthcare strategy consultants will analyse the specialties and availability of physicians, identify market opportunities, and prioritise the recruitment needs for each hospital. Thomson Healthcare will ultimately recommend a recruitment strategy that complies with federal regulations and uncovers the optimal recruitment approach.

'Thomson Healthcare is helping us understand the medical staff landscape in some of our communities,' said Irene Hudson, vice president for physician recruitment at IASIS. 'These insights will enable us to adopt an effective recruitment plan, and help ensure we are developing medical staffs that can appropriately care for our patients and improve the quality of life in the communities we serve.'

'We welcome the opportunity to work with IASIS Healthcare on this important project,' said Maureen Peszko, senior vice president for Thomson Healthcare. 'Our objective is to provide meaningful data and analytics, so IASIS can make sound recruitment decisions.'
