Inland Imaging turns to InterSystems for US expansion plans

InterSystems : 29 October, 2007  (New Product)
The InterSystems Ensemble rapid integration platform has become the technology core of an US expansion plan now being implemented by Inland Imaging.
A medical imaging services leader in the state of Washington, Inland Imaging is focused on entering new markets throughout the Western half of the USA.

InterSystems is a leading provider of innovative database and integration software. Its product line includes the InterSystems Cache high-performance object database, InterSystems Ensemble rapid integration platform, and InterSystems HealthShare platform for regional and national electronic health records.

'Several years ago, we were facing a challenge that's all too familiar in radiology reporting,' said Brian Napora, director of IT Development at Inland Imaging. 'We were focused on getting our reports to physicians as rapidly as possible, but we faced the need to spend $20,000 to $30,000 on interface development every time we brought on a new customer with a system not previously supported in our environment.'

An integration engine that would eliminate such a substantial investment was critical to cost-effective growth. That realisation led to an in-depth evaluation of multiple integration software alternatives.

It was clear that a comprehensive integration platform would be pivotal for future growth,' Napora said. 'Integration is so critical that it's essentially the centre of our IT enterprise.'

'We required an engine that would handle complex messages, persist messages and enable rapid interface development. Ensemble fulfilled those criteria while delivering the high level of reliability we need to serve our customers 24 by 7.'

Once conversion of more than 50 interfaces to operate in the Ensemble environment was complete, Inland Imaging began adding new customers and interfaces.

'At this point, we're working with close to 100 interfaces and we're confident that we can support our multi-state expansion,' noted Napora.

Inland Imaging is in the process of going live in Arizona with its first hospital in Phoenix, according to Napora. 'From our perspective, the potential for new business is what is most significant about our integration technology choice. We can't grow our business without the ability to rapidly integrate our IT systems with those of the customer and we see Ensemble as an important part of our growth strategy.'

'InterSystems is committed to delivering the comprehensive technology customers need to enable their specific business objectives,' said Paul Grabscheid, InterSystems vice president of strategic planning. 'We're very pleased to be working with Inland Imaging and look forward to a long and very successful working partnership.'
