MedTrust Online, Oracle and Dell collaborate to provide oncology tool

MedTrust Online : 30 May, 2008  (New Product)
MedTrust Online is working with Oracle and Dell to bring the new discoveries across health sciences to oncologists at South Texas Oncology and Hematology (STOH), a leading provider of medical care for cancer patients in the Southwest USA.
By deploying the MedTrust Online Solution, a world-first oncology tool that measures the Sixth Vital Sign, physicians will be able to personalise therapeutic regimens and provide the best possible care for their individual cancer patients.

The MedTrust Online Solution creates new processes for capturing medical knowledge and integrating the latest molecular information to provide a comprehensive knowledgebase for physicians to consult as they diagnose and choose the best individualised treatment option for their patients.

By using Oracle's Thesaurus Management System and Oracle RDF Data Model, a feature of the Oracle Spatial option to Oracle Database Enterprise Edition 11g, MedTrust Online will be able to provide STOH physicians with versatile technology tools they need to use new medical and scientific knowledge needed in the practice of medicine. MedTrust Online is a member of the Oracle PartnerNetwork.

Working with Dell's HCLS Solutions team, MedTrust Online's Knowledgebase has been optimised for use with Dell Latitude XT tablet notebooks and PowerEdge1950 servers. This collaboration enables MedTrust Online to completely customise the company's solution and scalability while saving money. Working on optimised open standards means stability and compatibility for the physicians who will be using the MedTrust Online Solution.

Dr Lon Smith, head of STOH, commented on the MedTrust Online Solution, 'We are delighted to be working on a web based information system that will enable us to access the most current therapeutic data for our patients, especially those with rare diseases and unusual presentations.'

'We are pleased to be working with two technology industry titans as MedTrust Online builds clinically useful, knowledge-based tools for Oncologists seeking the right treatment for their individual patients,' stated Chris Yoo, PhD, president and chief executive officer of MedTrust Online. 'By collaborating with Dell, a MedTrust Online Innovation Partner, and now Oracle, we are well positioned to deliver robust information technology solutions that doctors can rely on in the clinic every day. And our strong partnership with STOH will enable us to build the MedTrust Online Solution to work with how the best doctors in Oncology personalise therapies for their patients.'

'By connecting the dots between an individual's clinical observations and latest molecular information, MedTrust Online solutions can help its customers assemble a powerful knowledgebase and take patient care to another level,' said Vijay Pillai, director of translational medicine at Oracle. 'Oracle is committed to delivering platform technologies that help advance the impact information technology has on healthcare and the life sciences.'

'Dell is committed to helping companies like MedTrust Online deliver cutting-edge solutions to the medical community that promote personalised medicine,' said Scott Jenkins, PhD, area vice president of Dell's Healthcare and Life Sciences Channel Solutions segment. 'At Dell we understand the importance of connecting physicians with information to best serve patients and believe technology platforms like MedTrust Online can make a meaningful impact on the quality of patient care.'
