Mobility products on show at Kidz to Adultz Wales

Etac R82, a supplier of adaptive products for disabled people, welcomed many visitors to its stand and delivered a series of well-received educational seminars at the first-ever Kidz to Adultz Wales.

Etac R82 supplies the Etac, R82, Molift, Immedia and now Convaid brands. Its product range includes assistive standing and walking products, transfer and bathing aids as well as adapted wheelchairs and buggies.

A larger stand at this exhibition enabled an impressive showcase of Etac R82 paediatric and rehabilitation products. The new Convaid range of assisted buggies and R82’s new Flamingo High Low and Heron toilet and shower chair generated high levels of interest.

R82’s child rehabilitation products including the Gazelle and Rabbit standing frames and Mustang and Crocodile walking aids were available for hands-on comparisons. The paediatric Kudo wheelchair, Wombat functional activity chair and Stingray High Low, buggy and car seat were also exhibited.

Families and carers were encouraged to participate in interactive product demonstrations of R82’s toileting and bathing products, including the Penguin, Manatee and Orca, as well as the multi-functioning Heron and height-adjustable Flamingo High Low with back recline. Meanwhile younger visitors were happily entertained with the on-stand “Fish a Duck” activity.

The portable Molift Smart 150 hoist and Molift Raiser sit-to-stand transfer platform were also available for hands-on testing.

Throughout the day, R82’s Managing Director Jon Preater and Helena Poulton, Advanced Practitioner OT and Consultant to R82, hosted popular educational and practical seminars. Beneficial to families, carers and healthcare professionals, the topics included:

* Considerations for toileting and bathing equipment

* Benefits of Abducted Standing featuring the Gazelle

* R82’s Next Step Development Plan featuring the Mustang Walker

* R82’s popular bathing and seating solutions

* Headpod suspension support system

Ben Joseph, who lives with dystonic Cerebral Palsy supported Helena Poulton in a hall-based seminar entitled: “As long as it’s not pink, I don’t mind” discussing the importance of including children and families in the design and manufacturing of seating equipment. Ben, age 19, explained his involvement in the development of the Heron bathing chair from prototype to finished product and the positive outcomes that had been achieved.

Etac R82 introduced the new Toileting and Bathing workbook at Kidz Wales and the team was delighted to welcome onto the stand Tia and her family - who featured in a recent Flamingo High Low case study which is included in the workbook.
