Multi-function mobile chair combats cross-infections

James Spencer : 04 September, 2008  (New Product)
James Spencer’s new, upgraded Stalham commode, shower and sanichair has been designed to combat cross-infection.
The Mark II version of the multi-function mobile chair, developed in consultation with nurses working in the NHS, has also been designed to help the West Yorkshire-based specialist healthcare furniture and equipment manufacturer’s customers reduce their carbon footprint.

James Spencer ’s chairman Richard Spencer explained: “Having successfully sold the Stalham for several years, we have modified and improved the range to incorporate all of the best points to produce a single 2008 model which ticks all the right boxes.”

“Built from a highly durable synthetic material which will never rust, the Stalham’s modern design incorporates removable padded cellular back, over seat and aperture.”

“This allows for effective, easy cleaning, reducing risks of cross-infection. The unit is so versatile it can even be washed and disinfected in its entirety in an auto-clave.”

“The latest model also has a new flat bar bedpan/disposable pan rack, replacing previous models made from mesh. We have improved the construction of the racks following vital feedback from cross-infection nurses, who felt that the mesh harboured bacteria, whereas the new flat bar is far more accessible for cleaning purposes.”

“Ease of moving and handling were also high on our list of priorities, with hinged locking arms for transfer with swinging detachable footrests, along with four total lock brake castors, all included in the package.”

“The fact the Stalham is virtually totally synthetic also gives the product a much longer shelf life, so reducing replacement and re-equipping costs significantly, at the same time making it extremely eco-friendly.”

“We anticipate that the new multi-purpose Stalham will supersede all currently available models due to its modern, strong, non-rusting and easy-to-clean construction.”

“Early demand is encouraging and we are already starting to sell the Stalham in large quantities to hospitals standardising throughout their Trusts, as well as in smaller trial batches throughout the UK.”
