New Carl Zeiss microscope camera is ideal for biomedical research applications

Carl Zeiss MicroImaging : 20 December, 2007  (New Product)
The new Carl Zeiss AxioCam HRc Rev 3 meets the increasing requirements of biomedical researchers for maximum versatility.
The camera features maximum flexibility and optimum quality colour images. Because the AxioCam HRm can cover a wide range of applications, users only need a single camera instead of having to rely on multiple specialised camera models.

The camera's application ranges span pathology, cytology, haematology, physiology to histology as well as botany, zoology, forensic sciences and pharmacology. The AxioCam HRc Rev.3 can be used with many types of microscope, including stereomicroscopes.

The AxioCam HRc is a flexible and fast high-end camera. Images taken with the camera can be used for image documentation and communication as well as for digital image analysis. The high quality of the images enables the user to get precise and reproducible analysis of the most intricate microscopic specimens.

The camera resolution can be increased well beyond the basic sensor resolution of 1388 x 1040 pixels to match the high resolution of some of our objectives by using fast micro scanning.

This enables the user to take images at 4164 x 3120 pixels which will show all microscopic image detail the objective can produce. The micro scanning is a very fast process only taking 2,5 seconds. Using a technique called colour co-site sampling the AxioCam HRc provides the same resolution in all colour channels without having to use any interpolation, corresponding to an effective resolution of about 39 megapixels. The 14-bit digitised dynamic range enables you to resolve the finest colour gradations and object boundaries even under the most difficult lighting conditions. The live image provides up to 33fps which makes it easy and convenient to focus and find your region of interest.

Users in the biomedical field who work with moving or changing objects will appreciate the possibility to record fast sequences of up to 48 images/s at (5x5 binning) by using the digital high-speed recorder module of the AxioVision software from Zeiss.

The camera parameters can easily be optimised for various microscopic and macroscopic contrasting techniques. Fast microscanning and the high readout speed of the camera reduces processing time when making image adjustments.

Integration of the AxioCam into the AxioVision software with its many application-specific modules allows for focus improvement through Unsharp Masking, object-specific shading corrections, the recording of large sample areas using MosaiX or Panorama acquisition, the extended depth of focus, digital high-speed recorder and many more. The modules in conjunction with our AxioVision software enable optimum use of the camera features over a wide range of applications.

For fluorescence Microscopy and live cell imaging applications the sensitive AxioCam HRm Rev.3 monochrome version of this camera is also available.
