New integrated workplaces improve clinical workflow in the cath lab

Siemens Healthcare Deutschland : 11 May, 2007  (New Product)
A new generation of integrated workplaces for all haemodynamic and electrophysiological examinations has benn introduced by Siemens that aim to improve clinical workflow in the cath lab.
The measuring system Sensis XP detects the sources of electrophysiological irregularities and effectively supports the physician in treating cardiac arrhythmia.

The results of the procedures lead to additional workflow improvements in the cath lab.

From a central patient registration to synchronised recording and display of events on the Axiom Sensis XP and the full interface with the CARTO XP Mapping System.

The new interface is an example of the successful cooperation between Siemens and Biosense Webster.

The results have been incorporated into the Sensis XP systems by Siemens, which now communicates bidirectionally with the electroanatomical mapping system of Biosense Webster.

Already in 2002, the two companies formed a strategic alliance with the goal to improve the ablation therapy of complex arrhythmias.

Since then, additional innovative developments established new possibilities in electrophysiology.

With the Cartomerge Software Module, for example, electroanatomical mapping data can be registered with previously recorded 3D CT and MR data.

'Strategic alliances and joint developments with leading corporations are important components in the effort of moving innovations forward'.

'Especially in electrophysiology, we are able to further enhance customer support with integrated solutions', said Norbert Gaus, the Head of the Angiography and X-ray Systems division of Siemens Medical Solutions.

'We believe that the solutions of highly specialised companies are key to increased efficiency in electrophysiology by improving workflows.

'We will continue driving these developments forward'.

'We welcome the opportunity to work in alliance with Siemens to help electrophysiologists treat patients with irregular heart beats', said Roy Tanaka, president, Biosense Webster.

'We share a common goal which is to continue providing patients and their physicians with state-of-the-art solutions for these conditions'.
