Opaque bright white real-time PCR plates enhance reproducibility of real-time data

Featuring opaque white wells the twin.tec real-time PCR plates from Eppendorf have been developed to enable detection of significantly lower levels of fluorescence and enhance the reproducibility of real-time PCR data.
Titanium dioxide gives an opaque bright white which both increases the reflection of fluorescence and reduces interfering background fluorescence. Therefore lower levels of fluorescence can be detected by the same instrument and the homogeneity of replicates is increased, compared with using clear or frosted wells.

The reduced wall thickness of twin.tec real-time PCR plates gives optimal heat transfer while maintaining high mechanical stability and the rigid, fully skirted frame version is designed for automated handling. The raised rims are ideally suited for effective heat sealing and use of adhesive films.

According to Dr Kay Korner, Eppendorf product manager PCR Instruments and Consumables, “Every researcher using real-time PCR considers which is the best instrument, the best mastermix or the best polymerase, but plastic consumables are not expected to influence the final results. However, Eppendorf’s new twin.tec real-time PCR plates with white wells give up to a ten-fold increase in reflection of fluorescence, compared with frosted wells. All the features of regular twin.tec plates plus the advantages of white wells make twin.tec real-time PCR plates the consumables of choice for cutting-edge applications such as low-volume qPCR.”
