Oxford Children’s Hospital orders Siemens Acuson S2000 ultrasound system

Siemens Healthcare UK : 18 August, 2008  (Application Story)
Oxford Children’s Hospital, part of Oxford Radcliffe Hospitals NHS Trust, has ordered an Acuson S2000 ultrasound system from Siemens for use in general diagnostic imaging.
The hospital opened in 2007 to bring together all children’s services in one purpose-built environment. The high image quality of the Acuson S2000 will assist in imaging a variety of young patients, ensuring a swift diagnosis for appropriate implementation of treatment.

The Acuson S2000 is an innovative system designed to support general imaging and cardiac applications. Its next generation acoustic technology delivers superb 2D, 3D, colour and pulse-wave Doppler plus 4D imaging for a confident diagnosis. SieClear spatial compounding enhances anatomic border definition and improves tissue contrast to ensure the optimum level of detail. The system also benefits from advanced transducer technology that incorporates twice the elements in half the space to improve slice thickness, image uniformity and contrast resolution.

Featuring innovative knowledge-based workflow, the system speeds up the examination process and streamlines workflow. Using pattern recognition technology and a database of real clinical cases, the S2000 can recognise anatomical patterns whilst its syngo eSieCalcs native tracing software can select and automatically measure lesions and structures in 2D or 3D.

“As part of our next generation range of Ultrasound solutions, the Acuson S2000 is a versatile system that will assist diagnosis in a range of patients at the Children’s Hospital,” said Janice Miles, Ultrasound sales manager at Siemens Healthcare. “A sound investment, the S2000 is also prepared for the future of Ultrasound evolution, offering silicon transducer compatibility and knowledge-based workflow.”

The system is also ergonomically designed to give ultimate user comfort and has a flexible articulating arm and high-resolution 19-inch flat-panel display to ensure optimum monitor placement and enhanced image quality in all lighting situations.
