Philips cath lab agreement with Volcano Therapeutics

Philips Medical Systems : 03 April, 2008  (Company News)
Philips has signed a North American Resale Agreement with Volcano Therapeutics that allows Philips to sell Volcano s5i systems and accessories into new and existing cath labs.
Volcano s5i intravascular Ultrasound (IVUS) also brings the ability to visualise the vessel diameter, remodelling, and plaque composition.

Philips StentBoost offers a workflow benefit to IVUS cases, as it can assist cardiologists with more accurately position pressure balloons for post-dilation, even after the IVUS Catheter has been removed.

Illustrating a commitment to interventional treatment, Philips StentBoost Subtract addresses the rising need for systems that help clinicians gain better views of the heart’s anatomy for Stent placement. Since the Society for Cardiovascular Angiography and Interventions (SCAI) recommended careful deployment of drug-eluting stents in late 2006, interest in improved Stent and lumen visualisation has risen sharply.

Philips created the new StentBoost Subtract to meet this need for high-volume cath labs. StentBoost Subtract is useful in assessing full Stent expansion and apposition.
