Plexus Corp UK : 25 April, 2007  (New Product)
Plexus UK's expanded European Design Centre at the Alba Campus in Livingston, Scotland, has been opened by Jack Perry, chief executive of Scottish Enterprise.
The new centre is twice the size of the previous space and consists of 3670ft2 of design space, housing 12 design engineers.

Plexus hopes to more than double its team in Livingston to 31 engineers over the next two years.

Commenting, Andy Allen, Plexus vice president Europe said, 'We are delighted to be able to open this centre in Livingston, in the heart of Scotland's technology corridor, which is enabling us to support a growing number of local technology based enterprises as well as international corporations throughout Europe'.

'Plexus now employs over 350 people in Scotland, here in Livingston and at our prototyping and manufacturing facility in Kelso.

'We are continuing to see growth in our core medical, communications and industrial markets throughout Europe and the investment here is the first phase of our wider European expansion plan'.

Jack Perry, chief executive of Scottish Enterprise, said; 'Plexus's expansion is good news for the development of Scotland's electronic design sector and reinforces the West Lothian region as one of Scotland's most promising areas in terms of new technology development'.

'Innovative and highly skilled companies such as Plexus play an increasingly valuable role in the Scottish business landscape.

'Plexus' success demonstrates Scotland's competitiveness as a business location for high value services to the electronics industry.

'I welcome their continued confidence in the Scottish workforce and wish the company every success in the future'.

During the opening celebrations Plexus is inviting customers and product innovators to participate in free half hour design surgeries.

The surgeries are being hosted by the in-house engineering team and are open to anyone who has a design problem to solve or a great product idea that they need help to bring to market.

In addition to the engineering team in Livingston, Plexus' customers have access to a global team of 300 engineers and 18 facilities in Europe, America and Asia.
