Point-of-care ultrasound system helps Ipswich Town FC reduce injury time blues

Dr Dave Lewis, consultant in emergency medicine at Ipswich Hospital and club doctor for Ipswich Town FC, has selected a SonoSite MicroMaxx point-of-care ultrasound system to carry out FAST, aorta scanning, vascular access, musculoskeletal scanning, cardiac scanning and nerve blocks. |
|
“The MicroMaxx system has everything that I need, like the selection of probes and the high resolution of the screen,” explained Dr Lewis. “The system’s quick boot-up is an advantage in the emergency department, where I use the MicroMaxx system daily. The high-resolution images have excellent diagnostic quality for all emergency department scans. As a hand-carried musculoskeletal scanner it performs extremely well. I can see even very small muscular haematomas and tears, which might have previously gone unnoticed. The MicroMaxx system has met or surpassed all the quality criteria I wanted.”
Dr Lewis has been using SonoSite systems for the past six years and has persuaded Ipswich Town FC to have their own MicroMaxx system available for use at the training ground or the stadium.
Dr Lewis also runs Ultrasound training courses for consultants, registrars and GPs: “The levels of service and the support – particularly in education – that I get from SonoSite have really been outstanding,” Dr Lewis concluded.
