Pulp disposal units offer The Queen Elizabeth Hospital environmental performance benefits

Vernacare : 22 August, 2012  (Application Story)
For almost 30 years maintenance Team Leader, Robert Walker, has been working at The Queen Elizabeth Hospital Kings Lynn NHS Foundation Trust and knows a thing or two about the healthcare estates industry.

During that period the hospital switched to the Vernacare pulp disposal units and has been using them for 20 years.

"We were really impressed with the standard of the machines and have continued to use Vernacare since then, purchasing the latest machine each time," said Walker.  "We have a programme where we replace machines at the end of their life with the latest Vernacare model, installing them in new or refurbished wards."

Not only is Walker happy with the quality of the machines, he also speaks highly of the service  received by The Queen Elizabeth Hospital Kings Lynn NHS Foundation Trust. Walker commented: "Vernacare are one of the easiest companies I deal with and I am very happy with the service the trust receives."

Vernacare's Vortex pulp disposal unit is a hands-free system that is opened by placing the foot inside the foot well. The infection prevention features include an automatic anti-bacterial deodoriser which cleans inside the machine at the end of the cycle and assists in improving the sluice room environment.

The Vortex's robust twin-blade combines ease of use with fast cycle times, reliability and outstanding environmental performance. A self-diagnosing LCD together with manual emptying override makes maintaining the Vortex easier.

The Vernacare Vortex is now the most cost effective pulp disposal unit available, at just £2900 including three years servicing.  With an annual preventative maintenance visit by a fully trained VernacareTechnical Engineer including inspection of all electrical and mechanical components and 20 percent discount on breakdown rates, there is  a guaranteed response time of 48 hours but often quicker.
