Radiology imaging systems for Dutch hospital

Sectra : 23 March, 2015  (Application Story)
Sectra is providing PACS to a hospital in Amsterdam as part of its role as IT and medical technology partner
Radiology imaging systems for Dutch hospital

The Dutch hospital Onze Lieve Vrouwe Gasthuis in Amsterdam, the Netherlands, has selected Sectra as its IT and medical technology partner. The order comprises Sectra’s solution for handling and archiving radiology images (PACS). With this investment, the hospital will benefit from transparent and secure access to images and patient information throughout the patient care pathway

In total, Dutch hospitals using Sectra PACS perform around five million radiology examinations each year. This means that Sectra’s system handles about 35% of all radiology examinations conducted in the Netherlands, making Sectra the market leader in the Dutch PACS market.

“Radiology IT is truly mission critical and patient outcome depends on system availability and workflow,” says Peter Osinga, Managing Director of Sectra Benelux. “Our market-leading position confirms that we meet our customer’s requirements in terms of  stable solutions with the functionality, performance and connected services required for them to provide high-quality and safe care.”

Most patients undergo radiology examinations as part of the diagnosis and treatment process for their illness or injury. This means that managing and communicating images and information rapidly and efficiently with personnel from other healthcare units is highly significant for the quality of the care provided for the patients. The Onze Lieve Vrouwe Gasthuis hospital is set to merge with Sectra’s customer, Sint Lucas Andreas Ziekenhuis, in the summer of 2015 and together, they perform a combined total of more than 300,000 radiology examinations per year. With the medical IT solution from Sectra, it will be easy for the medical personnel to share patient information and radiology images with each other. This will facilitate the efficient utilization of resources and increase the potential for effective and safe healthcare.
