RFID tracking system for inventory management is installed at Columbus Children's Hospital

Mobile Aspects : 28 June, 2007  (New Product)
A RFID enabled inventory management system has been installed at The Heart Center of Columbus Children's Hospital to store, track, and manage the utilisation of high cost devices and supplies supporting congenital heart care.
The RFID will also manage supplies supporting congenital heart care.

Developed by Mobile Aspects, of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, the system, called iRISupply, uses an RFID tracking architecture to automate charge capture, inventory management, device expiration management, and other key operational processes within the patient care setting.

Thirteen of the cabinet based units were installed in two specially designed Hybrid Cardiac Catheterisation Suites, to store and manage items such as stents, closure devices, specialised catheters, and guide wires.

To provide more information on the benefits of iRISupply to other paediatric cardiovascular care providers, Mobile Aspects will be exhibiting at the International Symposium on the Hybrid Approach to Congenital Heart Disease (ISHAC) being held 27 to 29 June 2007 in Columbus, Ohio, USA.

Hosted by The Heart Center, this case based Symposium brings together many of the pioneers and leaders in Hybrid therapy from around the world to discuss how collaboration between interventional cardiology and cardiothoracic surgery can enhance care to thousands of patients with complex congenital heart disease.

In addition to the symposium sessions, attendees will also have an opportunity to tour the Hybrid Suites and view the leading edge technology being used in The Heart Center.

The iRISupply system is part of the Mobile Aspects One System of CARE solution, which uses identification and information technologies to automate processes for clinical resource management by healthcare providers.

By automating the storage, tracking, utilisation, and billing of clinical resources through RFID, healthcare providers realise enhanced care quality, increased productivity, accurate billing, and significant inventory cost savings.
