SCD disinfectant controls Legionella contamination

Tristel : 12 June, 2007  (New Product)
Tristel Technologies has introduced Purogene, a stabilised chlorine dioxide disinfectant developed to control Legionella contamination.
For UK customers Purogene, available from Tristel Technologies of Bolton, Lancashire, is a stabilised chlorine dioxide product that is specified and used by many local authorities, NHS Trusts and industrial operations for manual 'fill and soak' disinfection of domestic hot and cold water services for legionella control.

The SCD disinfectant is also widely used as a source of chlorine dioxide for continuous treatment of domestic water systems for bacteriological control and for occasional disinfection where 'fill and soak' cannot be used.

Purogene is a powerful high level disinfectant that is non-corrosive at use concentration, is unaffected by water pH, does not 'chlorinate' and leaves no taste or odour.

The disinfectant is approved in the UK for use in water for drinking, washing, cooking and food production, and as a disinfectant for water works apparatus, reservoirs and distribution systems. Purogene is available in 5, 25 and 208 litre drums.

Tristel's SCD (Stabilised Chlorine Dioxide) products have been proven to out perform acidified sodium chlorite solutions.

Based on independent studies the best case scenario for acidified chlorite is that three times the concentration is required to achieve comparable results.

SCD disinfectants are produced by manufacturing pure chlorine dioxide gas and then stabilising it with special proprietary buffering agents.
