Seal Shield has begun shipping the new Silver Seal Washable, Antimicrobial Keyboard which is the world's first computer keyboard to be fully submersible, dishwasher safe, and manufactured from Silver Seal Antimicrobial plastic. |

The Silver Seal Keyboard has been created to help reduce the risk of cross contaminations, including Norovirus and MRSA. The Silver Seal Keyboard is the Antimicrobial version of the company's best selling, Silver Seal Medical Grade Washable Keyboard, which was introduced last year.
The US Center for Disease Control (CDC) research on a 2007 norovirus outbreak at an elementary school revealed computer keyboards and mice were a source of transmission.
In 2008 more than two million patients will contract an infection while seeking treatment in a US hospital. Of those, close to 100,000 people will die, making hospital acquired infections a Top 10 killer of Americans. Computer keyboards have been shown to be a primary culprit for such cross contaminations.
According to University of Arizona scientist, Dr Charles Gerba, 'the keyboard has some 10 million germs.'
Dr Gerba also stated: 'the keyboard has about 400 times more germs than the average toilet seat.'
