SearchMedica extends search engine to cover nurses, pharmacists and medical students

SearchMedica.co.uk : 30 October, 2007  (New Product)
SearchMedica.co.uk, the medical search engine, has improved the functionality of the GP-focused search engine as it celebrates its first birthday.
As a direct result of user feedback over the last 12 months and further in-depth research undertaken by SearchMedica.co.uk, several important changes to improve the GPs search experience have been implemented.

Results are now presented with the most recent, as well as the most relevant information first, ensuring GPs see the most up-to-date and search-specific information at the top of the results list.

The favoured ‘sites chosen by GPs’ search option has now been streamlined to give more results from trusted sites used daily by GPs, so they can have confidence in the authority of the source.

The result categories have been revised. Not only have they been renamed to better reflect GPs’ daily activity, but they now display results from pre-defined lists of sites, enabling the GPs to locate information more quickly, from sources specific to their needs.

At the same time, SearchMedica.co.uk is being launched to three new healthcare groups - nurses, pharmacists and medical students. Applying the same successful framework that has proved very popular with GPs, they provide other healthcare professionals with bespoke tools tailored to their needs.

Lisa Taylor, director of SearchMedica UK, said, “Our overall goal has been to develop an online tool for GPs to enable them to get access to medical information quickly and easily. Over the last year we have learned a lot about how GPs search for medical information and listened to our users’ comments and suggestions. The changes we are making to the search functionality we hope will make SearchMedica an even more invaluable tool to the GPs daily routine.”
