URAC, a Washington, DC-based organization that establishes quality standards for the healthcare industry, McKesson has again been awarded Full Core Reaccreditation and Vendor Recertification for the company’s care management workflow solutions. |
|
“By applying for and receiving URAC accreditation, McKesson has demonstrated a commitment to quality healthcare,” said Alan P Spielman, URAC president and CEO. “Quality healthcare is crucial to our nation’s welfare, and it is important to have organizations that are willing to measure themselves against national standards and undergo rigorous evaluation by an independent accrediting body.”
McKesson was the first software company to receive accreditation from URAC’s Vendor Certification programme in 2003. The company’s second re-accreditation was granted in October 2007 in three URAC programmes: Case Management, Disease Management and Health Utilisation Management. McKesson’s URAC-certified products include:
- CareEnhance Care Manager - automates and streamlines case, disease and utilization management workflows associated with coordinating the care of a single member at a given time.
- CareEnhance Review Manager Enterprise - provides Web-based access to InterQual Criteria, supporting productive payor-provider communications
- CareEnhance Disease Monitor - uses payors' medical and pharmacy claims to identify and monitor chronic diseases early, when interventions can be most beneficial.
McKesson also holds URAC Core and Health Call Centre Accreditation for its CareEnhance 24-hour nurse advice line.
“At McKesson, we strongly believe that independent validation of the quality of our products is an important indicator to our clients that we continue to offer the top care management solutions in the industry,” said A Jacqueline Mitus, MD, senior vice president of product strategy for McKesson Health Solutions. “We are very proud to have once again met URAC’s meticulous standards, knowing that the use of accredited software can help simplify our clients’ pursuit of their own URAC accreditation.”
To achieve URAC re-accreditation, McKesson demonstrated a high-quality work environment in compliance with URAC’s Core Standards, which include organizational structure, staff training, information management, staff qualifications, oversight of delegated activities, quality management and consumer protection. McKesson also demonstrated that its software continues to meet the rigorous standards for URAC certification.
URAC is an independent, non-profit healthcare accrediting organization dedicated to promoting healthcare quality through accreditation, certification and commendation. URAC currently offers more than 19 accreditation programmes that span a broad spectrum of healthcare services.
