VitalAire selects Pilgrim’s CAPA systems to achieve regulatory compliance

Pilgrim Software : 14 May, 2008  (Company News)
VitalAire Canada, a Canadian national provider of respiratory healthcare products and services, has selected Pilgrim’s corrective and preventive action (CAPA), documentation, and training management systems to help ensure the Canadian’s company’s quality and regulatory compliance.
VitalAire had been operating numerous databases and semi-automated processes for document management, training management and CAPA. It was seeking an integrated compliance and quality system allowing users to work collaboratively through seamlessly integrated systems in each area through one portal.

VitalAire recognised the need to acquire a collaborative tool that would not only offer document management controls, but also have native tools built in that would enhance communication and work flow. VitalAire embarked on the quest to have multiple vendors conduct a Proof of Concept with its core team and scored each tool according to VitalAire’s business requirements. Pilgrim’s SmartSolve solution proved to be superior in the areas of strong regulatory and quality management functionality that was readily configurable rather than built from scratch.

'As a healthcare provider VitalAire required a system that would be flexible, light on configuration, and maintenance, and easy to use,” said Dave Brajkovich, VitalAire’s national director of MIS. “We want our users to be able to perform their daily duties without the need to be highly skilled on systems configuration.”

Pilgrim’s SmartTrain module is also a superior product that will allow VitalAire to be proactive and ensure certification compliance on demand. “The functionality will provide our users a single point of control and access to ensure certifications are updated and are synchronised with the most recent versions of regulatory compliance documentation,” said Alice Chen, VitalAire’s manager of regulatory compliance.

“VitalAire’s vision is based on ‘excellence in safety, quality and regulatory compliance.’ By combining that vision with Pilgrim Software’s capabilities, we are ensuring the highest and most consistent quality approach for all our clients,” said Paul Ostrowski, VitalAire’s president and chief executive officer.

SmartDoc provides VitalAire users the ability to create, manage, deliver and archive key documents including SOPs, policies, work instructions and best practices within one central repository. With SmartDoc, documents can be approved and distributed more quickly without the risk associated with lost or inaccurate documents. SmartTrain integrates effectively with the document management system, as does SmartCAPA for CAPA process management.

“By selecting Pilgrim’s SmartSolve system, VitalAire gains a fully automated quality system that ensures regulatory compliance, improves productivity and reduces overhead costs,” said Nikki Willett, Pilgrim’s vice president of marketing and regulatory affairs. “Additionally, VitalAire will experience a low risk implementation while consolidating its inter-departmental connectivity because the systems are fully integrated.”

“Pilgrim Software has built industry best practices into its solutions and offers one of the strongest training management capabilities available,” said Brajkovich. “Once implemented, these products will enhance our quality and compliance efforts at both the process and the product level,” Chen added.

Pilgrim’s SmartSolve solutions will be implemented at VitalAire’s Toronto-based headquarters and within 70 additional offices across Canada. VitalAire is a division of Air Liquide Healthcare/Sante International.
