Morgan Advanced Materials : 27 January, 2014  (Company News)
A new facility for providing advanced materials to cope with high magnetic fields generated by medical imaging systems has been set up in Wales
Wales materials facility established to support medical imaging

Morgan Advanced Materials is demonstrating its commitment to delivering next-generation solutions for the medical sector, with the opening of a dedicated cell to manufacture products for non-invasive imaging and therapy applications.

Situated at the company’s facility in Ruabon, North Wales, the new cell has been created to support Morgan’s focus on products for Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI), X-Ray imaging and radiotherapy.

Morgan’s range includes non-magnetic, high-permittivity materials with very low electrical loss which are not affected by temperature change. This makes them ideally suited to filters, attenuators or capacitors for use in the high magnetic fields generated by MRI systems. Morgan also produces higher permittivity materials suitable for high- voltage components used in X-Ray imaging and therapy applications.

Paul Turnbull, Business Development Manager for Morgan Advanced Materials, said: “Morgan has manufactured components to support key applications in the medical market for many years, and the creation of this new facility confirms our commitment to this important market.

“Next generation advances in medical imaging demand novel solutions for customers. Morgan has the capability from our continued materials and product development to support the strides that our customers are taking in improving the performance and accuracy of their systems, with both standard and customised solutions.”
