Wayfinder Arrows points the way for fire safety

Wayfinder Arrows : 13 June, 2007  (New Product)
A number of new fire safety products have been unveiled by Wayfinder Arrows.
At the sound of a fire alarm escape route signs come to life when they use Wayfinder's Active Sign technology.

The LED array is the active source and the static arrow appears to move when the fire alarms sound or when there is a power failure.

The viewer can easily see the direction out by the flashing arrows.
Tests have shown that evacuation in buildings with Active Signs can be achieved more swiftly.

Ideal for many buildings with large people movements, such as hospitals.
Active Signs are complementary to normal sign systems and are ideal for provision of visual signage under Disability Equality Duties.

Active Sign Technology is suited to specifications in both the European and North American markets.

The technology features sound recognition software as well as a white LED array for direction indication.

The system offers three hour emergency lighting autonomy (UK) and can be fitted to different styles of sign.

Also unveiled is Wayfinder's omni-directional fire loop systems that provide control via an analogue addressable interface that switches single or double arrow options. Current interfaces have been tested on compatible Hochiki and Apollo Panels.

System fire control panel needs to have sub address option to provide omni-directional switching. The systems are mains/battery powered.

Another addition to the Wayfinder portfolio is the omni-directional radio transmitter systems.

Radio transmitter units are normally wall-mounted and located within the fire alarm evacuation zones as specified by our site survey engineer.

The transmitters are permanently connected to the building's fire alarm control panel, either directly or via an interface on the alarm system's addressable loop. These connections are made with fire-rated cable.

The Omni-Directional Wayfinders work intelligently from information received via the control panel and each Wayfinder can be remotely controlled as to the required direction out of a building in any given situation.
