Welsh Ambulance Service fleet to be supplied with Remploy wheelchairs

Remploy Healthcare : 25 June, 2007  (New Product)
The Welsh Ambulance Service's new fleet of state of the art vehicles is to be supplied with 180 wheelchairs from Remploy.
The contract is part of a multi-million pound investment programme to improve patient care and service in Wales.

The fleet, which comprises Front Line ambulances, Patient Transport Services and Rapid Response vehicles, has been designed specifically to allow easier and quicker assess to equipment.

Remploy's general purpose attendant propelled 9Trl model wheelchair was selected for use on the Front Line and Patient Transport Services vehicles on the basis of its ease of use, durability and longevity in addition to its lightweight steel frame that enables safer handling and transportation.

The incorporation of on-board wheelchairs into the overall design of the ambulances also helps to significantly improve patient transfer time and efficiency, by eliminating the need for chairs to be located at the hospital itself.

Remploy Healthcare's sales manager Stuart Grimley comments: 'As the leading provider of wheelchairs to the NHS, we are delighted to be able to strengthen our relationship further with this prestigious contract'.

'The Welsh Ambulance Service has invested heavily in ensuring that the new fleet of vehicles enable patients to receive the best possible levels of service and care and Remploy Healthcare is delighted to be a part of such an important enterprise'.
