Wythenshawe Hospital installs trio of Siemens Acuson S2000 ultrasound systems

Siemens Healthcare UK : 29 September, 2008  (Application Story)
Wythenshawe Hospital, part of the University Hospital of South Manchester NHS Foundation Trust, has installed three Siemens Acuson S2000 ultrasound systems and a portable Acuson X15.
The S2000 is a next generation Ultrasound system, ergonomically designed for user and patient comfort and offering extensive functionality. The three systems have now been installed into Wythenshawe Hospital’s radiology department and are being used for paediatric imaging, muscular skeletal, gastro intestinal and gastroenterology imaging including liver studies.

“The new S2000 Ultrasound systems have been well received by both hospital staff and patients,” stated Gerry Johnson, Lead Sonographer at Wythenshawe Hospital. “We now have the fore-front in Ultrasound imaging technology, with the ability to perform detailed examinations producing very crisp and clear images. The Acuson applications have performed highly and are useful to all members of staff and our patients from the local community.”

“We are delighted that Wythenshawe is already benefitting from the Acuson S2000’s features,” stated Bernadette Leonard, sales manager for Ultrasound and women's health products at Siemens. “Ease of use, ergonomics and image quality are all very important factors when conducting Ultrasound scans, which the Acuson range confidently provides.”

The S2000 features a Cadence Contrast Pulse Sequencing (CPS) package providing non-linear imaging, which effectively separates and displays tissue or microbubbles. This enables improved lesion detection and characterisation in studies of organs such as the liver.

The easy to use system and superior image quality assists with delivering a high standard of care to patients by enhancing diagnosis. Furthermore, the S2000’s simple user interface and ergonomic build makes it easy to manoeuvre in the clinical environment.

The Acuson X150 Ultrasound system also installed provides imaging in a compact and portable system. Simple to use yet powerful, the system delivers quality diagnostic performance. The system is upgradeable, giving the user total flexibility to fit evolving diagnostic needs.
